About Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR)

Every year on November 20th activists all over the world commemorate Trans Day of Remembrance (TDoR) to honour and remember trans people who lost their lives during the year. According to the Transrespect vs. Transphobia project of Transgender Europe since 2008 at least 104 trans people were reported murdered in Europe.

How many trans people need to die for Europe to take action?

Read TGEU’s press release for the Transgender Day of Remembrance 2015.

”On this Transgender Day of Remembrance, TGEU calls on the European Commission to extend current European hate crime framework to cover for gender identity, and on the Council of Europe to upscale their efforts to combat transphobic violence.”

Trans Murder Monitoring (TMM) 2015 Updates

Every year in November we provide an update of the Trans Murder Monitoring project results for the International Transgender Day of Remembrance so as to assist activists worldwide in raising public awareness of hate crimes against trans people. The TDOR 2015 update has revealed a total of 271 cases of reported killings of trans people from October 1st 2014 to September 30th 2015.
